information on the will.
Stranded in the beach house, Rooster and Irene’s
son-in-law, Quint come up with a plan for Rooster to fake
dying and trick Irene into bequeathing Quint the
summerhouse so he can borrow money against it to pay off
his debts. But Quint betrays everyone when he sells the
house to the oil companies.
Infuriated by her husband’s deceitfulness, Kitten
(Quint’s wife) flees the summerhouse to meet her
professor at Tulane. Irene is left alone with her
grandson, Bunky. Seeking a companion, she comforts him
with “Grillardes and grits” and gifts him an
Arabian stallion. Bunky lifts his despairing soul with his
magic weapon, his music and hitchhikes to New Orleans,
searching for his adulterous mother.
